Changes to Harwich-Rotterdam route
As part of Stena Line's commitment to ship redeployment on the North Sea and the arrival of their new Superferries they have announced changes to the vessels that currently operate on the Harwich to Europoort (Rotterdam) route.
Over the coming months the Stena Transfer will be replaced by the Stena Carrier and the Stena Partner will be replaced by the Stena Freighter. Both the Transfer and the Freighter were built in 2004 and are currently operating on the Travemunde - Gothenburg route. These vessels will mean an improved reliabilty and quality on the route, however the capacity for accompanied transport will decrease.
Both ships are freight ships, with the capacity to carry only 12 drivers. However, due to the arrival of the Superferries on the Harwich-Hoek van Holland route overall driver capacity from Harwich to the Netherlands will not be affected.
The new ships mean that a new sailing schedule will be released shortly but it is expected that there will be a later departure time from Rotterdam (21:30hrs) but with the same arrival time in Harwich of 03:45hrs.
