Olympic Torch in Folkestone and Dover
17 July 2012
As part of the celebrations and preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Games the Olympic Torch Relay will pass through Dover and Folkestone next week, causing some disruption to ferry and Eurotunnel schedules.
On Wednesday 18th July the Olympic torch will enter the Eurotunnel service tunnel at Folkestone, which means there will be no freight shuttle departures from Calais between the times of 15:45CET and 16:53CET. Eurotunnel have planned additional departures before and after this period and a timetable can be viewed here.
From Folkestone the torch will then move onto Dover where there will be rolling road closures throughout the evening of 18th July. Further information on these planned closures can be found on the Dover District Council website, which includes a map.
The A20 will be closed between 18:00 - 18:30, 19:30 - 20:00 and 23:00 to 23:30, although longer delays should be expected.
Dover Seafront will remain closed from 14:00 on 17th July until 19th July.
The suggested route to enter the Port of Dover, commencing Tuesday 17th July c.14:00 is M2-A2.
A full list of streets affected can be found on the BBC torch relay website.
