DFDS Seaways (North Sea)

DFDS is one of the largest ferry & freight ferry operators in Europe. In July 2010 DFDS concluded a deal to take over Norfolkline from the A.P. Møller – Maersk Group creating the new DFDS Seaways. DFDS was founded in 1866 and the new DFDS Seaways has merged all the previous shipping services. These were DFDS Torline, Norfolkline, DFDS Lisco and the DFDS Seaways passenger services.

DFDS Seaways now operates over 75 vessels, including Ro-Ro ferries, Ro-Pax vessels and Lo-Lo (Lift on Lift off) vessels. In 2007 the DFDS group employed over 2700 employees, turned over 5.5 billion DKK (550 million sterling approx), and shipped over 12 million lane metres of vehicles.

DFDS Seaways now has a full European route network, operating between Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, Latvia, Russia and Lithuania.

Although freight driver space is limited on most North Sea routes, facilities on board are of a very high standard, including excellent cabins and good menu choice in relaxing surroundings.
