North Link Ferries is a wholly owned subsidiary of David MacBrayne Ltd, who is wholly owned by the Scottish Government. The service North Link Ferries operates under is a lifeline ferry service, previously operated by NorthLink Orkney & Shetland Ferries Ltd.

NorthLink ferries operate 3 Ro-Pax vessels (ferries capable of carrying freight and passengers) and 2 freight vessels (freight passenger space is limited), connecting the Scottish Islands of Orkney (Kirkwall & Stromness) and Shetland (Lerwick) to the Scottish ports of Scrabster and Aberdeen. Departures from all the ports are daily.

Onboard service for freight drivers and passengers is of very high standard including spacious cabins, restaurant s, bar areas, games room, sun decks, boutiques and cinemas.

Northlink Ferries Ltd operates the following routes. The vast majority of routes in the Freight Link system can be booked and paid for online without opening an account. For contractual reasons, a small number do require that you open an account with us first.
