Stena Line is one of the world’s largest ferry operators, providing over 18 services across the Irish Sea, North Sea and Scandinavia. Stena Line provides services for a range of market sectors such as passengers, accompanied freight vehicles and unaccompanied freight vehicles. The company employs over 5,700 people in total. Stena Line (sometimes known as Stenaline) have around 25 ships in their fleet including new Superferries which they introduced on their North Sea ferry crossings Harwich Hoek of Holland and Killingholme Hoek of Holland in 2010 and 2011. Stena Line have also had some recent route changes. The Stranraer Belfast ferry crossing no longer operates, and was replaced with a new ferry service from Cairnryan to Belfast following investment in a new port at Cairnryan. In 2011 Stena Line also took over operation of the ferry route Liverpool (Birkenhead) Belfast and the freight ferry route Heysham Belfast. The Fleetwood Larne ferry crossing was also closed down by Stena Line in December 2010.
