Norfolk Line (Irish Sea) Ltd
Norfolkline is one of the biggest ferry operators in Europe, operating 18 vessels. In 2007 they shipped over 2 million passengers. Following their purchase in July 2010 they are part of the DFDS group and are now known as DFDS Seaways.
The range of services DFDS Seaways (formerly Norfolkline) offers is extensive, catering for the ferry passenger and freight ferry markets. On the Irish Sea DFDS Seaways operates 4 routes for freight customers. 2 of these routes - Liverpool Birkenhead - Belfast and Liverpool Birkenhead - Dublin are operated by ro-pax vessels offering a high level of service, reliabilty and facilities for passengers and freight drivers alike.
There are also 2 freight routes operated by DFDS Seaways on the Irish Sea - Heysham - Belfast and Heysham - Dublin. Over the course of Summer 2009 Norfolkline introduced 3 former North Sea ships to these routes - MV Maersk Exporter (now the Scotia Seaways), MV Maersk Importer (now the Hibernia Seaways) and MV Maersk Anglia (now the Anglia Seaways). These ships have limited driver capacity, but excellent onboard facilities. They have increased the drop trailer capacity on the Heysham - Belfast and Heysham - Dublin routes as well as improving the level of service and reliability.
