Spain to Balearic Islands freight ferries
Spain is a European country situated in the south-western region of the continent. It neighbours several countries including Portugal, France, Andorra, the Bay of Biscay and Gibraltar. It also shares water borders with the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. As well as the mainland, Spanish territory includes two autonomous cities in North Africa, Ceuta and Melilla, and also the Canary and Balearic Islands.
The Balearic Islands are located in the Mediterranean Sea near the eastern coast of the Iberian peninsula, and include Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca.
Majorca (or Mallorca) is the largest Spanish island. The capital of the island is Palma which is home to the Marina Port of Majorca. Similar to the other Balearic Islands such as Ibiza, Formentera, and Minorca, the island is a popular destination for tourists. The port of Alcudia in the north of the island also serves as a ferry port during the summer months.
Ibiza is 79 km off the coast of the city of Valencia in the Iberian Peninsula, Spain. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, an autonomous community of Spain. With Formentera, it is one of the two Pine Islands of Pityuses. Its largest cities are Ibiza Town, Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. The island has a population of approximately 14,000 people. Ibiza port is located in Ibiza town. The access to the port is off Avenida Santa Eulalia and the passenger terminal is called 'Estacion Maritima del Puerto'. The port itself offers a wide selection of facilities and services.
Menorca, or Minorca, is also a popular tourist destination. The island has a population of approximately 88,000 people. There are two key ports in Menorca which are Ciutadella in the north-west of the island and Mahon in the south-east of the island. Mahon has the second deepest natural harbour in the world at 5 km long and up to 900m wide. It is one of the largest ports in the world.
