The port of Dublin is Ireland’s oldest and largest seaport. Approximately 70% of the Republic of Ireland's traffic passes through Dublin port. The port itself is situated directly in the heart of Ireland's capital city, with easy access by road or rail. Dublin port handles over 24 million tonnes of cargo each year, along with over 1.5 million passengers, and it also plays host to many cruise liners.
Douglas is the capital and largest town of the Isle of Man. The River Douglas forms part of the town's harbour and main commercial port. It is the main port of the island with the most extensive facilities for both commercial and private vessels. Douglas is the only Manx port with dedicated passenger handling facilities and roll-on roll-off vehicle services. The port provides specialist berths for oil and gas tankers as well as general cargo vessels, fishing vessels and occasional survey, customs and naval vessels.
