Ireland to the United Kingdom ferry services
The United Kingdom is made up of several countries including England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as many smaller islands off the coast. Long Sea Ferry Crossings
For passengers travelling to England, DFDS Seaways offers a service from Dublin to Birkenhead 12 times a week with a 7 hour crossing. The DFDS ships are Ro-Pax vessels capable of carrying freight and passengers and have a wide range of on board facilities. Alternatively, Seatruck ferries operate two very modern ships sailing between Dublin and Liverpool. These freight vessels carry 12 commercial drivers in a very high standard of accommodation, including single berth cabins with TVs. Primarily catering for the unaccompanied trailer market Seatruck have 11 sailings a week, with a crossing time of 7 hours.
Short Sea Ferry Routes
There are also many ferry crossings available to customers travelling from Ireland to Wales. Fastnet Line offers a crossing from Cork to Swansea 3 times a week (10 hour crossing). Alternatively Irish Ferries provides a service from Rosslare to Pembroke 15 times a week, which takes roughly 3 hours and 45 minutes in total. They also have ferries travelling from Dublin to Holyhead that are available 4 times a day. There are 2 sailings per day on a conventional ro-pax ferry and up to 2 crossings per day on a fast craft. Commercial vehicles are limited to 9m and 12 tonnes on the fast craft vessel. The crossing time for the conventional ship is 3 hours 30 minutes and just under 2 hours for the fast craft.
Stena Line also cover this ferry route between Dublin and Holyhead, however this occurs 4 times a day and takes roughly 3 hours and 15 minutes. Stena Line also provide crossings from Rosslare to Fishguard (twice a day, 4 hours) and summer time only sailings from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead (7 times a week, 2 hours).
