CLdN Update - Storage Regime for C.RO Ports’ Terminals

As freight volumes are picking up on an aggregate basis we are once again facing a risk of terminals gridlocking.

We again emphasise the absolute requirement that you collect your import units as quickly as possible and at latest within the below mentioned dwell times on terminal (as stipulated in our letter of 07.01.21) – specifically in collecting arriving goods and units that are now subject to import clearance.

We have accounted for some teething problems in adapting to the new regulations during the first two weeks of January, which will result in a degree of leniency covering this initial period. However, the below storage conditions (as previously advised 07.01.2021), will be strictly applied and implemented as from this week, starting 18 January 2021.

UK Ports - Purfleet and Killingholme

  • Pick up of your freight units must be executed within 72 hours after unloading of the vessel
  • After 72 hours of free storage, a storage charge of £30/per commenced period of 24 hours is applicable (excluding bank holidays)

Continental Ports - Zeebrugge and Rotterdam

  • Pick up of your freight units must be executed within 72 hours after unloading of the vessel
  • After 72 hours of free storage, a storage charge of €35/per commenced period of 24 hours is applicable (excluding bank holidays)

Furthermore, in order to safeguard the terminal from gridlock and to facilitate the flow of non-dwelling cargoes: -

  • We will as from tomorrow 22 January 2021 onwards block stow any unit which has been on quay for more than seven (7) calendar days
  • This will imply additional moves, handling and break-out costs, which will be chargeable as per applicable Terminal Tariff
  • We will inform you of the block stowed units and will require a minimum of 24 hours pre-notice for collection, allowing the terminal to break out the unit from the block stow

It is imperative that the ports continue to operate in order to maintain regular vessel operations, and we trust you appreciate that these measures are being taken after due consideration, prioritising the avoidance of major operational risks that would affect all stakeholders.

We once again thank you for your support on this matter.
