DFDS Price Increase from April 2016
Over the past year DFDS have made considerable investment in service improvements and Dunkirk port renovations.
The new ferry tonnage increased capacity and availability, the operator now offers up to 54 departures per day making significant difference to popular freight route users. It means more than 1500 spaces per day, and that’s in fact more sailings per day than P&O offers.
The port at Dunkirk has seen considerable investment in renovation, customers can now benefit from improved port access with additional freight check in facilities, along with improved security, which of course is imperative at the moment during the EU migrant crisis.
Taking into account all the pivotal investments and increased operating costs incurred for the expanded fleet and the aforementioned service improvements, DFDS decided to increase the rates by £7.50 per sailing on Dover-Calais and Dover-Dunkerque. The increased rate will come into effect 1st of April 2016. It is unfortunate, although we have no control over this decision, but we will have to charge our customers the increased rate.
The DFDS freight sales director said: ‘I trust you will understand and support our position in this matter and we look forward to providing you with a consistent first class service.’
