Trade has changed since the introduction of customs procedures on the 1st January 2021. You may be thinking of paying for professional services or training to help you manage the new customs processes. If this is the case, the SME Brexit Support fund may be the perfect solution for you.
The SME Brexit Support Fund is a Government grant that will offer up to £2,000 to businesses with up to 500 employees and an annual turnover of £100 million or less.
You can use the grant to help you pay for training or professional customs advice. This will enable you to complete customs processes more quickly and confidently allowing you to conduct trade with ease.
The SME Brexit Support Fund can be used for training in the following areas:
The completion of customs declarations
The management of customs processes and how to use customs software and systems
Understanding more specific import and export topics such as, VAT, the rules of origin and excise.
You can also use the grant for professional advice so that you know how what you need to do in order to meet the requirements for customs, import VAT, Safety and Security Declarations (ENS) or excise.
The applications for the SME Brexit Support Fund are not yet open, however the application process will take place online. You can find more information on the Government Website.
Making sure that your customs processes are correct will prevent any issues arising at the port (such as fines or the holding of goods) and will allow you to continue to conduct trade as seamlessly as possible.
