We have been contacted directly by the Chief Inspector of Marine Accidents at the UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), in relation to the MAIB’s recently published Accident Report into the cargo shift and damage to vehicles on the ferry European Causeway in December 2018. This Report follows on from the Safety Bulletin published by the MAIB in March 2019 and widely circulated within the haulage industry, enclosed for reference.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our freight customers that under the Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) Convention, drivers are not permitted to remain on the vehicle decks while the ship is at sea. This is being and will continue to be enforced by our ships’ crews and we would urge you as responsible shippers to pass on this reminder and the enclosed Safety Bulletin to all of your drivers.
