Travel requirements to the UK have changed, and the introduction of the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a significant update for eligible non-European and most EU nationals.
Passengers that fail to adhere to the entrance rules of the United Kingdom will be refused boarding.
Most non-UK & non-Irish citizens must apply for travel authorisation to enter the UK and will need an ETA, which is digital permission to travel.
- If you are an EU or other citizen with a right to reside in the UK, such as having Settled Status, you must ensure that your current EU passport is digitally linked to your UKVI account. You can do so here https://www.gov.uk/evisa/update-ukvi-account
- For travellers from countries requiring a visa, current visa application processes remain unchanged. In most cases, this must be linked to your UKVI account. You can do so here

What steps should you take?
- Check your eligibility: Determine whether you need an ETA for your travel to the UK.
- Apply early: Submit your ETA application well in advance of your travel date.
- Keep your travel documents up-to-date: This will help ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Note: DFDS advises customers to use only the official UK Government website to obtain their UK ETA.
