UPDATE 02/10/2023

From Monday 16 of October at 8am, the Month Blanc Tunnel will be closed for 9 weeks and is expected to re-open at 10pm on Monday 18 December 2023.

UPDATE 04/09/2023

The temporary closure of the Mont Blanc tunnel has been postponed indefinitely.

We will let you know as soon as this changes. In the meantime, you can still book your tickets here.

The 11.6 km long Mont Blanc tunnel, used by roughly 5,000 vehicles every day, will be closing for just over 3 months.

From September 4 to December 18, 2023, the Mont Blanc tunnel will be closed for scheduled maintenance.

During this time, we understand that trade must continue, and we are pleased to announce that we have several alternative options to ensure minimal disruption to your supply chain.

  1. RAlpin

16 trains per day - transport in just 11 hours.

Looking for connections between Germany and Italy?

Thousands of HGVs are transported by the RAlpin train service between Novara (Italy) and Freiburg (Germany) each year.

The RORO (Roll On, Roll Off) or “Ro-La” service, RAlpin, transports your vehicles through Switzerland and the Swiss Alps to reach your destination on either side.

When you transport goods between Germany and Italy via the RAlpin “Rolling Highway” train, you can minimise wear and tear on your vehicle while also reducing fuel costs, which will save your business money. And you can enjoy even more savings with our excellent rates.

Book your RAlpin tickets here.

(Important - please be aware that the maximum accepted vehicle length is 18.6m.)

  1. Fréjus Road Tunnel

Italy ⇄ France in just 20 minutes.

The Fréjus Road tunnel, which was first opened 60 years ago and runs beneath Europe’s tallest mountain to connect France and Italy, will also be undergoing some renovations during the 3 month Mont Blanc tunnel closure period. However, it’s still a great alternative.

Located at the crossroads of two vital trade routes between France and Italy, the 12.87km long Fréjus Road Tunnel was designed specifically to support truck traffic for vehicles up to 4.3m tall.

With open tickets valid for up to 7 days, dangerous goods permitted and fast booking confirmations, you'll wish you booked with us sooner.

Arrange your transport here.
