In response to receiving notice of dates intended for strike action by union members, we are writing to let you know of our revised vehicle ferry timetable (27 July – 29 Aug), which you can find https://www.redfunnel.co.uk/en/isle-of-wight-ferry/timetables/
(With the additions of the Red Kestrel Monday to Friday sailing from Southampton at 0400 / 0700 / 1000 returning from East Cowes at 0530 / 0830 / 1130 – Monday & Friday only with a 4th trip sailing 1325 hrs from Southampton, returning at 1455hrs)
The current planned strike dates (to be actioned by up to 20% of our workforce) are:
- 27 of July
- 1, 3, 5, 9, 11, 15, 17, 19, 23, 26, 29 of August
Before we share more details, we want to highlight some important points:
- The strike action has no planned impact on our Red Jet timetable, and we anticipate running this service as normal
- All customers with current bookings between now and 26 July are unimpacted and should plan to travel as normal.
To put the vehicle ferry timetable changes into context, during the twelve strike days, our ferries will operate 12 round trip ferry crossings per day, instead of our regularly scheduled 19 round trips. We’re confident that running to this frequency will continue to keep the Island connected and supplied as normal.
We will always prioritise the transportation of fuel, medical provisions and food, ensuring the Island gets its essential supplies.
What this means for customers currently booked to travel between 27 July and 29 Aug
Customers booked to travel between these dates (inclusive), will receive further communication from us, confirming either their new crossing time, or confirmation that there is NO impact to their booking.
Due to the complex nature of adjusting ferry traffic in our systems, we appreciate your patience as you wait to hear from us. Please refrain from getting in touch until you’ve heard from us.
Once we contact you, we will include instructions on how you can let us know if your new crossing time doesn’t work for you, and what your options are.
We very much thank you for your understanding, patience and continued custom with us during this difficult time. Our teams will be doing their best to support you.
