From 1 January 2020 the limit for Sulphur in fuel oil used on board ships operation outside designated emission control areas will be reduced to 0.5% against the current 3.5%. The new regulation will be introduced to reduce air pollution from ships.
The 2020 Global Sulphur regulation means a change in the price of fuel and therefore also in our Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF), which will be calculated based on the fuel price for 0.1% Sulphur until the 0.5% data is available.
During the autumn we will be running ‘shadow’ calculations and will include these from September until December in readiness for full implementation from 1 January 2020.
Our commitment for Connecting Europe for a Sustainable Future continues.
